The Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center is an initiative of the Cambodian filmmakers Rithy Panh and Ieu Pannakar. In the 1990’s, the two men began to dream of a place of memory and creation, where the audiovisual heritage would find a meaning and a new dynamics. And in December 2006, the Bophana Audiovisual Resource Center opened its door to the public with four missions to achieve: to preserve and rebuild the memory of Cambodia, to arouse public interest for culture and history, to strengthen the audiovisual sector and to host foreign filmmakers.
